Equipment

header_phThe presented electron microscopes, as shown in the map, are located on the campus of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The devices connected in the EMC-M belong to different departments and institutes, but can be booked via a common accounting system from any authorized user. Further information on maintaining user status and the rules of the EMC-M can be found under the heading service.

The five scanning electron microscopes (SEM) and seven transmission electron microscopes (TEM) of the EMC-M complement largely with regard to their range of methods and can therefore cover most electron microscopy issues. Additionally, a number of methods are available for preparing synthetic and natural materials like block materials, nanoparticles, films, or in solution for electron microscopy. For sample preparation under cryo conditions, especially important in the field of soft matter, also a wide range of methods are available.
